Part Time Dental Hygienist - Fridays Only
We are looking for an enthusiastic hygienist to join our practice! We are a well established practice located in DuBois that believes in delivering the highest quality of care to our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Perform dental hygiene procedures, including cleaning teeth, removing plaque, and applying fluoride treatments
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide personalized recommendations for at-home care
- Conduct patient assessments, including oral health screenings and reviewing medical history
- Records and reviews patient medical histories
- Charts conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist
- Take dental x-rays as needed
- Assist the dentist during procedures by providing instruments and materials
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes in dental software
- Follow strict infection control protocols to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff
- Stay up-to-date with current dental practices and advancements in the field
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient patient flow and provide excellent patient care
- Maintains dental equipment and sharpens and sterilizes dental instruments
Requirements:
- Valid dental hygiene license
- Associate's degree in dental hygiene or related field
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and dental procedures
- Familiarity with medical records systems and electronic health records
- Experience in dental assisting is a plus
- Proficiency in aseptic technique and infection control protocols
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate and communicate with patients
- Attention to detail for accurate documentation and record keeping
- Ability to work well in a team environment
Skills:
- Medical terminology knowledge
- Anatomy knowledge
- Familiarity with medical records systems such as Dentrix and Opendental
- Dental assisting experience is a plus
- Aseptic technique proficiency
- Patient assessment skills
- Medical documentation skills
- Medical coding knowledge
- Infection control expertise
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, leaning and bending
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
