Summary:
UNC Hospitals Rehabilitation Service Line is accepting applications for a PRN Pediatric Physical Therapist in an outpatient clinic with clinical experience in pediatric neurological and developmental rehabilitation; diagnoses include autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, gait disturbance, gross motor delay, orthopedic conditions, spinal cord injury, spina bifida, traumatic brain injury, torticollis, vestibular disorders, hematology/oncology and weakness. Experience with complex pediatric neurological diagnoses is preferred in this setting. Physical therapy services available to our pediatric caseloads include aquatic therapy, casting for orthotic management, wheelchair and equipment evaluations, dynamic body-weight support system, and functional electrical stimulation.
At least two years of outpatient pediatric experience is strongly preferred. This candidate will also work closely with an experienced group of physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists as part of our Outpatient team, as well as with other providers in interdisciplinary clinics. Experience in interdisciplinary clinics with diagnoses related to Limb deficiency, Juvenile Dermatomyositis, and Special Infant Care Clinic is preferred. Excellent time management, communication, flexibility, and organizational skills are required in this fast-paced environment. Good leadership skills are needed to coordinate patient care coverage with other disciplines within the UNC Healthcare System and academic institutions across the state to provide clinical instruction to students within the clinic. The selected candidate will work variable hours and flexible days, which may include Saturdays.
Responsibilities:
1. Selects and performs appropriate Physical Therapy (PT) evaluation procedures to identify and assess problems. Sets treatment goals and devises a treatment plan. Re-evaluates and adjusts the PT treatment plan in response to the patient's changing condition and discharge plans.
2. Manages resources needed to perform PT treatment plan to accomplish goals set for the patient.
3. Completes PT documentation in the medical record per department guidelines and completes department records for billing and statistics.
4. Manages PT caseload with efficiency and efficacy.
5. Provides clinical supervision and teaching for PT students or staff. Plans orientation, caseload, and other learning activities. Provides regular feedback and coaching. Evaluates the learner's performance.
6. Plans and coordinates clinical programs in response to patient needs, technologies, clinical practices, regulations and reimbursement. Provides regular communication with physicians, supervisor, and others regarding PT programs and patients served.

Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements: - Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state of North Carolina.
