Job Summary:
The ASC Nurse Manager will manage the clinical processes and requirements at the site while also serving as a utility clinical player to staff the site as needed and manage individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and company policies and procedures.
- Attends all professional staff meetings, prepares agenda, gathers data for review and analysis, and prepares minutes.
- Reviews, revises, and updates all Policy and Procedure Manuals by laws, job descriptions, meetings, etc. on a regular basis.
- Assures the facilities compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Deals with all review agencies.
- Responsible for evaluation of programs and patient care activities.
- Establishes, maintains, analyzes, and evaluates standards of nursing care within the facility in compliance with professional nursing standards and recommended operating room, pre/post-operative procedures.
- Initiates and/or supports activities to control costs without compromising patient care.
- Ensures that existing nursing policies and procedures are understood and implemented.
- Provides appropriate resources for meeting the educational needs of the nursing staff.
- Supervises the collection of all required records and reports.
- Handles the schedule and time off requests.
- Monitors patients’ physical and emotional well-being throughout the care continuum.
- Assists in positioning of patient to accommodate for both comfort and safety.
- Conducts skilled nursing assessments, plans and evaluates treatment, and administers appropriate nursing interventions to all patients admitted to the surgery center.
- Preps the operating room for the patient or procedure.
- Provides accurate care and handling of specimens.
- Observes and enforces strict standards of asepsis.
- Monitors all equipment used during surgery to confirm they are running smoothly and Inventories all items both pre- and post-surgery.
- Selects and handles instruments and supplies used for the operation, passing them to the surgeon appropriately.
- Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol.
- Collects, interprets, documents, and communicates patient information in accordance with State and Federal guidelines, rules, and regulations applicable to the facility setting.
- Administers prescribed medications, applies dressings, and monitors vital signs. Completes other nursing tasks as required.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all nursing duties performed by the team, including patient assessments, administering treatments, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring accurate documentation. Serve as a resource and support for team members by actively engaging in day-to-day patient care tasks, ensuring a high standard of clinical practice across all areas.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position supervises the Registered Nurses, Radiology Technologists, Nursing Assistants, and Patient Service Representatives in the Surgery Center.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in nursing required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- State of MN RN License required.
- BCLS certified.
- ACLS certified.
- At least five years of related RN experience preferred, in an ambulatory surgery setting or operating room.
- Prior management experience strongly preferred.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a medical surgery center and office setting.
