Scope of Work:
Provide orthopedic coverage for Level II trauma center, including ED consultations, reductions, splinting/casting, and any indicated operative procedures.
Provide orthopedic coverage for in patients with acute musculoskeletal conditions.
The definitive surgical treatment of pelvic and/or acetabulum fractures is not expected but provisional stabilization with skeletal traction, external fixation, and/or application of pelvic binders is in scope.
There are no outpatient clinic responsibilities.
Provide guidance and oversight of orthopedic trauma APPs who assist with the Orthopedic Trauma Service and who serve as first call for the service.
Licenses, Certifications, Requirements: Active NC license, DEA, BC, ortho trauma fellowship preferred but not required, must be comfortable with the evaluation and provisional and/or definitive treatment for acute traumatic injuries commonly seen at Level II trauma centers. Must have experience with the evaluation and treatment of the most common, bread-and-butter musculoskeletal conditions resulting in inpatient consultation.
