The primary purpose of this job is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and the Medical Director, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Duties:
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, and evaluate departmental staff (management staff only)
- Provide 24-hour accountability for the Nursing Department in directing and coordinating all activities of nursing services
- Makes rounds to verify clinical compliance including periodic spot checks of resident’s condition
- Coordinate clinical services to promote standard clinical interventions of resident care
- Takes corrective action in response to quality of service issues
- Investigate any complaints and concerns as indicated
- Review and follow-up on documentation for clinical compliance
- Supervise all nursing activity within the department
- Ensure coaching and disciplinary actions are provided as indicated within the policies and procedures of the campus
- Evaluate performance/skills/job knowledge of nursing staff
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Nebraska (or compact state) RN license is required
- 1-2 years of DON experience
- 2 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Long Term Care (LTC)
- Ability to learn and implement administrative and departmental policies and procedures and carry out job responsibilities in a professional, accurate and conscientious manner
- Ability to create and maintain a helpful, understanding and empathetic atmosphere toward the residents and staff
- Ability to handle confidential information exercise independent judgment and make decisions based on good nursing practice guidelines
