We are now hiring for a full-time Health and Nutrition Manager to join our DuPage Team!
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate health services and access to care for families to ensure that all children and families receive preventative care and treatment when needed as required.
- In conjunction with the health technician, develop, monitor and evaluate systems to ensure that all children meet federal, state and DCFS mandated timelines for submitting physical and dental forms and that required screenings are completed. Work closely with site supervisors to ensure documentation is maintained in orderly fashion at site.
- Supervise Health Technicians who work with other ECE staff to monitor and ensure that health/nutrition documentation in families/children’s records is complete.
- In conjunction with Health Technicians, develop follow-up recommendations for families and ensure that documentation in ChildPlus has been done in timely fashion to meet the needs of the yearly Program Information Report.
- Provide administrative oversight and system development for all aspects of Child and Adult Care Food Program including contracts, monitoring of sites, vendor relationships, recordkeeping and submission of reports.
- Develop, monitor and evaluate food service systems including forms, policies/procedures, budgets and menus, making recommendations to ensure nutritionally adequate, high quality food service, which meets all CACFP and DCFS regulations.
- Maintain system for posting children’s names who have health/nutrition special needs in the classroom that meet HIPPA requirements.
- In collaboration with the Family Engagement/ERSEA Coordinator, develop and present health/nutrition educational and related programs as appropriate to families.
- In collaboration with the Family Engagement/ERSEA Coordinator, establish and maintain collaborative links with service providers in order to foster a network of services for children and their families that promote child and parent learning and well-being, prevent difficulties and intervene as early as possible.
- Assist, as needed, with development of Individualized Education Plan/Individualized Service Plan, specifically relating to nutrition and/or dietary modifications.
- Provide training, advice and consultation to all staff/personnel to ensure that they have good knowledge about child health and nutrition, children’s physicals forms and what is required by Head Start, ISBE and DCFS. To provide same support to delegate as needed.
- Coordinate the Health Advisory Committee and meetings to provide assistance from community health and nutrition professionals on trends and technical advice to support the grantee and partners.
- Provide active supervision to ensure the safety of children while in the classroom, during transitions, and while on the playground. Ensure that no child shall be left alone or unsupervised.
- Ensure the usage of agency technology equipment and time are utilized for agency business.
- Ensure compliance with the agency’s code of conduct.
- Ensure agency’s fiscal integrity by adhering to purchase approval requirements and procedures. Maintain accurate inventory of health program supplies.
- Assist in the development of the agency’s annual self-assessment.
- Ensure all content area data is accurately reflected in the agency’s Program Information Report within set periods.
- Participate in program recruitment efforts to maintain full enrollment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s level degree in Early Childhood, Social Work, Nursing, Nutrition Services from an accredited college or university, required.
- Ideal qualified candidate should possess one of the following certifications: Registered Nurse, Registered Dietician, or Registered Nutritionist, preferred.
- Ability to observe, assess and record symptoms, reactions and progress.
- Ability to effectively communicate diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by families and staff.
- Ability to educate families as to the nature of physical health/wellness and to provide instruction on proper care, diets, and treatment.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops pertaining to assigned content area(s).
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
- Knowledge of community support services and funding services.
- Knowledge of equal opportunities issues and their implications in working with families.
- Employment with MFS requires proof of vaccination or an approved Medical exemption, required.
- Must have access to a vehicle, valid driver's license and proof of insurance to perform essential job functions, required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and/or weekends if needed.
- Satisfactorily pass a health examination, fingerprint and criminal background check.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
SALARY:
- Compensation is commensurate with years of related experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The salary for the position is $70,000.
