Job Summary:
The Locum Consultant in Care of the Elderly will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of elderly patients with a focus on promoting health, independence, and quality of life. The post-holder will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Duties:
- Provide expert clinical assessment and management for elderly patients.
- Conduct inpatient ward rounds and outpatient clinics.
- Develop and implement individual care plans, ensuring holistic care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
- Leadership and Supervision:
- Supervise junior medical staff and provide teaching and mentorship.
- Lead initiatives to improve patient care and safety.
- Education and Training:
- Provide education to healthcare professionals, patients, and their families about care of the elderly.
- Participate in teaching and training programs for medical students and junior doctors.
- Research and Audit:
- Engage in clinical audit and quality improvement projects.
- Contribute to research initiatives within the department.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to service development.
- On-call Duties:
- Participate in the on-call rota as required.
Qualifications:
- Essential:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Geriatric Medicine or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in care of the elderly and related specialties.
- ALS (Advanced Life Support) certification.
- Desirable:
- Higher qualifications (e.g., MRCP, MD, or equivalent).
- Experience in research and publication in geriatric medicine.

Pay: £107.76-£112.03 per hour
