About the Job:
Nursing Manager, NICU
As a Nursing Manager in the NICU at our prestigious medical facility, you will manage the delivery of nursing services and patient care within the NICU department. The role involves managing a team across 49 beds, with an average census of over 30 and a dedicated team of 141 NICU employees. This challenging yet rewarding position ensures high-quality patient care and adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and performance outcomes. You will be instrumental in shaping care practices and managing departmental budgets to foster an environment of excellence and continuous improvement in patient care.
Compensation: $220,000.00 - $255,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage nursing services delivery around the clock, ensuring care meets or exceeds established standards and performance measures.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance clinical practices, service excellence, and department operations.
- Monitor and control departmental budgets and manage resources efficiently to optimize patient care and department performance.
- Lead and develop a diverse team by maintaining high recruitment and training standards.
- Create and uphold stringent patient care and departmental policies that align with organizational goals.
- Handle human resource and risk management issues effectively while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Champion organizational safety standards to minimize risk to patients and staff.
- Engage actively in leadership committees to continually integrate services across the continuum of care.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Minimum five years of clinical nursing experience, including three years in management, supervisory or leadership roles, specifically in a NICU or PICU environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse License in California.
- Required certifications for CCS-certified facilities: BSN and National Health/Nursing Administration Certification or MSN for NICU departments.
- Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with electronic medical record systems.
- Master's degree in a related field.
- National Certification in a nursing specialty.
- RNC-NIC certificate.
