Overview
The MAE Laboratory Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Materials Lab and the Measurements & Controls Lab for the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Responsibilities include collaborating with teaching faculty to facilitate the teaching of laboratory courses, supporting the department in developing new curricula and lab projects, and supervising and training staff. The manager will establish laboratory safety training, FDNY C14 certification training, and maintain equipment and instrument service records. Additionally, the position will contribute to the department's research and training mission.
Responsibilities
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering field.
Preferred Education:
Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering field; Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering field.
Required Experience:
3+ years working in a laboratory environment with experience in supervision and managing budgets.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
High level of independent thinking, creativity, and goal-oriented productivity. Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills. Ability to identify and support the implementation of best practices. Project management, teaching, and/or mentoring experience. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must be well-versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.
Salary Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $90,000.00 to USD $110,000.00. NYU considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
