Position Summary:
Provides leadership, direction, and supervision of the Imaging Informatics team. Utilizes best practices and technical abilities to support all imaging functions throughout the UNM Health System. Responsible for the maintenance of various imaging informatics systems including web-site, interface, clinical applications and software support and/or development. Conduct systems project planning, project design, documentation, training and installation. Responsible for managing confidential information such as employee information, performance management, legal and regulatory compliance. Coordination of project implementation with vendors and appropriate personnel. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- SUPERVISION: Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives.
- SYSTEMS: Coordinate the analysis of data gathering and consider all available solutions or alternate solutions defining and proposing recommendations for implementation of application system and inter-system communications enhancements.
- COORDINATION: Coordinate all new system installs and system upgrades from a systems perspective.
- PROCEDURE: Conduct the development, creation, maintaining and updating functional operating manuals and contingency plans outlining established methods of performing work in accordance with UNM Hospitals organizational policy.
- SYSTEM ANALYSIS: Assist and guide Systems Analysts in the preparation and implementation of system analyses on existing Hospitals systems based on features in administrative and clinical information systems.
- NEEDS ANALYSIS: Communicate and collaborate with technical and non-technical personnel to understand and define user needs, gather and analyze data and recommend solutions.
- COMMUNICATION: Communicate with technical and non-technical personnel on systems issues to understand and respond to user needs.
- DEVELOPMENT: Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops.
- BUDGET: Assist in the management of budgets for the responsible area.
- PROJECTS: Manage projects as assigned from start to finish including development of specifications, creation of project plan, tracking and reporting milestones, and product delivery to include collaboration with CLT staff for training of end-users; may include installation of new vendor-based systems and upgrades to existing systems as well as in-house developed systems.
- CONFIGURATION: Prepare and approve policies, standards and direction for system configuration.
- SOFTWARE: Implement software on new and existing systems for department or individual use.
- TESTING: Research and test leading edge systems technologies.
- PROJECTS: Head small to medium sized project teams coordinating progress from start to completion.
- STANDARDIZATION: Oversee UNM Hospitals hardware and software standardization efforts as appropriate and assigned.
- STAFF: Provide mentoring and training to staff on Imaging Informatics related technologies.
- TRAINING: Collaborate with appropriate personnel on the training of Imaging Informatics, IT and Hospitals personnel in new applications and changes to systems as applicable, including appropriate staff on all projects requiring training on existing or new systems.
- SYSTEMS: Understand and maintain knowledge of all imaging information, software, hardware interfaces, and operating systems or those specifically assigned. Assist with system maintenance and modification as needed.
- PROJECTS: Provide support, maintenance and administration for assigned projects. Prepare and present status reports on assigned projects.

5 years directly related experience
Nonessential:
7 years PACS, RIS, Health Care Imaging, Imaging Informatics or related IT field, of which 2 were in a supervisory role.
Credentials:

* Certified Imaging Informatics Professional w/in 1 Year
Nonessential:
* ARRT (R) or NMTCB (CNMT) or ARDMS
Physical Conditions:
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
