Tasks of Position
The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.
- Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safely perform assigned tasks and duties, prepared to provide excellent service and leadership.
- Promoting sales through active discussions with guests, offering OTC product recommendations, and discussing current promotions and service information.
- Providing in-service training to all new personnel ensuring they learn exceptional guest service, special features and services offered by the Pharmacy Department.
- Performing inventory, sales, and other bookwork required to monitor financial performance, ensuring the overall operations and profitability of the Pharmacy Department.
- Maintaining licensure in the State of Washington and/or Idaho and capable of the following:
- Compounding and dispensing prescribed medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals for patient care.
- Reviewing and filling prescriptions issued by Physicians, or other authorized prescribers in a timely manner.
- Determining formulas and ingredients needed for prescriptions.
- Participating in health care screenings or wellness programs at store.
- Entering data to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory.
- Maintaining established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
- Directing pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
- Training staff on safety procedures.
- Ensuring proper sanitation and housekeeping in the pharmacy.
- Operating the following equipment in a correct and safe manner: com-line, telephone, FM unit (handheld), copy machine, fax machine, reconstitube, computer and all other equipment used in or by the Pharmacy Department.
- Communicating guests' requests with accurate and complete instruction for special orders.
- Identifying and supporting the development of associates who show promise or interest in increased responsibility.
- Finding a way to "Make Our Guests Crazy About Us!"
- Ensuring all work performed in the department is completed in accordance with all local, state, federal and company rules, regulations, and policies regarding workplace safety, sanitation/housekeeping standards, and guest services.
- Participating actively in the Pharmacy Department's accident reduction plan.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibilities, including:
- Supervising, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of associates in the Pharmacy Department.
- Performing supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Possessing and displaying excellent leadership and communication skills in handling associate matters.
- Implementing and enforcing company policies.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
- Education and/or Experience
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree; one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Reads, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Performs advanced mathematical and scientific concepts as business/practice demands.
Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions.
