Power Plant Environmental Specialist

About the Role:
PGE is seeking a Power Plant Environmental Support Specialist to join our team in Clatskanie, OR. In this role, you'll provide dedicated environmental support for our Beaver and Port Westward power plants, with a strong focus on air quality management. This position offers the opportunity to drive compliance initiatives, collaborate on environmental strategies, and contribute to the sustainability goals of our thermal power operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Environmental Science & Compliance: Conduct research and analyses to support PGE projects, ensuring that all environmental regulations are cost-effectively met and that environmental risks are efficiently managed.
- Project Coordination: Lead or support small-scale environmental projects and field studies. Coordinate between internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
- Regulatory Compliance: Implement and maintain training programs that meet environmental regulatory requirements and support PGE's policy goals. Ensure adherence to company standards and industry regulations.
- Process Improvement: Develop and refine tools and processes for environmental assessments and regulatory compliance. Foster knowledge-sharing by mentoring colleagues and contributing to internal training initiatives.
- Risk Assessment & Reporting: Identify and mitigate environmental risks, prepare deliverables for agencies and internal business partners, and provide technical guidance to the broader team.
Key Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in environmental science, preferably within the energy, utility, or industrial sector.
- Certifications: Professional registration or certification preferred.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, air quality standards, and compliance processes. Familiarity with industry trends and regulatory development processes.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, intermediate project management skills, and experience presenting technical findings to both internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) required; data management or coding skills preferred.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
- Ability to work both in office and in the field, including navigating unstable or uneven surfaces, confined spaces, and elevated areas.
- Regular driving and traveling within the service territory. A valid driver's license and a history of safe driving practices is required.
- Ability to work long hours, a variable schedule, and be on-call, especially during inclement weather.

Compensation Range:
$87,225.00 - $145,375.00
Actual total compensation, including a performance-based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
