Job Description Summary:
The Lead Specialist, Patient Registration is responsible for facilitating new patient’s transition to Option Care Health services with the goal of delivering a consistent onboarding experience where patients and referral partners feel Option Care Health makes it easy to transition care. The Lead Specialist, Patient Registration facilitates all aspects of the patient’s transition to home/AIS and acts as a team lead by assisting the Patient Registration Supervisor or Manager in training team members, resolving complex referrals and leading special assignments.
Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)
- Engages with patient, referral source, sales, pharmacy, and nursing to coordinate discharge and secure nursing and delivery.
- Creates, communicates and obtains all required documentation for new referrals.
- Secures patient’s upfront payment including assisting patients to find avenues for payment where needed (identifies opportunities and directs patient to financial assistance program).
- Supports the ongoing activities needed to ensure clean claims on hold and denial management (follow-up on paperwork where missing).
- Provides training and mentoring for new hires.
- Assists Patient Registration Supervisor and Manager to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
- Assists Patient Registration Supervisor and Manager with special assignments as needed.
- Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement in process and recommends resolutions.

Basic Education and/or Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- INTERNAL CANDIDATES: Must have at least 1 year of experience as a Senior Specialist, Patient Registration or in a comparable senior-level role at OCH.
- EXTERNAL CANDIDATES: Must have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, with at least 1 year in a senior-level position preferred.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to multi-task and support numerous referrals/priorities at one time.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be detail-oriented and have a high degree of quality focus.
- High degree of customer service skills required.
- Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve and collaborate with cross-functional team members across sales and operation functions.
Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs)
- Previous healthcare/medical billing experience preferred.
- Associates Degree preferred.
Due to state pay transparency laws, the full range for the position is below:
Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Pay Range is $21.13-$35.22.
