Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT, MLS, MLT)
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in Portland, OR. Compensation: Depends on Experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure functionality and accuracy.
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures following departmental protocols.
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls to ensure reliability and accuracy of testing results.
- Deliver timely and accurate test results to support effective clinical outcomes.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and document quality control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Assist with processing of specimens, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Maintain a safe work environment, adhering strictly to lab safety policies and wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
- Current ASCP or AMT certification.
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions and solve problems efficiently.
- Experience in adhering to clinical laboratory safety standards.
- Proficiency in using laboratory information systems and other related technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge in microbiology and non-blood banking laboratory practices.
- Experience with team leadership or supervision in a clinical lab setting.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with healthcare teams.
