Summary
Plays a leadership role in the development and execution of the clinical nutritional strategy of the Lee Memorial Health System. Primary responsibilities include serving as a resource on all issues related to clinical nutrition; providing oversight and support for nutrition program development; planning and monitoring financial aspects of nutrition programs and services; and maintaining professional competency and skills required from the clinical support team under supervision at an adequate level as required for professional practice. Provides professional oversight for the medically related activities of the registered dietetic team to include supervision of 18 plus professional dietitians' / lead dietitians, 10 plus call center operators, for inpatient and outpatient services. Coordinates all clinical nutrition practices and policies for inpatient and outpatient services to include associated interactions with Lee Health Solutions, Wellness Services, Health park Rehabilitative and Care Center, Regional Cancer Center, Culinary Solutions and all other LMHS departments in need of clinical nutrition services. Ensures that all acute, post acute, Lee Physician Group, and community services are adequately serviced. Works as the department liaison for the Food and Nutrition department with the Clinical Practice Council, Nutrition Advocacy Council, Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee, and Nursing Leadership to address nutrition related clinical protocols. Verifies and ensures that all dietary practices are compliant with the rules and regulations related to therapeutic nutrition as defined by the Academy for Nutrition and Dietetics. Verifies that all dietary software systems work cohesively with operations providing oversight into the outcomes of the use of such systems in the daily decision making processes. Designs and monitors systems that ensure patient care practices are administered in a timely and effective manner. Has financial accountability for the clinical operations of the department. Directly responsible for financial outcomes as related to the management of the nutrition related labor resources of the corporate cost center for dietetic services. Provides operational supervision and oversight of the centralized call center, and all database services.
