Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Project Lead – R&D Partnerships to join our MedTech Surgery (JJMT) team in Raritan, NJ or Cincinnati, OH.

The Project Lead R&D Partnerships is responsible for leading one (or more) focused, cross-functional JJMT teams to execute product development projects in partnership with Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (JJIM) in accordance with criteria specified in performance agreements between JJMT and JJIM. The scope of the team’s responsibility encompasses market & business analysis, product design or acquisition, manufacturing process design, manufacturing pilot & product market launch.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead external and inter-company collaboration projects from assessment, intake, execution, launch and eventual transfer to life-cycle management.
- Lead cross-functional development team in executing project objectives according to a written, approved, performance agreement.
- Strong leadership in driving technical direction and decisions within cross-functional teams, balancing technical rigor with business needs.
- Proven experience in resolving technical challenges autonomously, making data-driven decisions and escalating issues effectively when needed.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gain alignment, resources & support to achieve project objectives.
- Expertise in identifying risks early and devising appropriate mitigation strategies, particularly in a regulated environment.
- Ensure projects are executed in compliance with regulatory requirements (GMP, ISO, MDD) & JJMT policy & procedure requirements.
- Excellent ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on technical and strategic objectives.
- Transfer product & manufacturing processes from development team to operations & marketing organizations at completion of project.
- Capture & disseminate knowledge acquired during projects to improve JJMT product development processes & systems.
- Develop and continuously refine comprehensive project plans including detailed project schedules.
- Establish & assign cross-functional and cross-company roles & responsibilities.
- Provide direct communication to management on progress, opportunities, risks, & issues.
- Continuously re-evaluate project to determine validity of intake assumptions.
- Foster teamwork within team & between team & other groups.

Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelors in Engineering
- Preferably a Master’s or PhD in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
Experience:
- 7+ years in medical device development, with experience in combination products or related fields
- Proven record of accomplishment: direct association with or leading efforts to develop technically complex products from concept to market
- Experience in medical manufacturing desirable
- Project Management: Proficiency in project management principles (PMP or similar certification) and project management tools (Smartsheet, MS Project) to lead projects effectively across different stages of development
- Domestic & international travel, as required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $104,000 to $166,750. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.

o Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year
