The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub New York (CZ Biohub NY) is an independent nonprofit research institute that brings together three powerhouse universities - Columbia University, The Rockefeller University, and Yale University - into a single collaborative technology and discovery engine. The Opportunity
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a scientific background to join the lab management team at CZ Biohub NY. This role will support group leaders, platform leaders, and scientists within the Biohub to carry out their role(s).
What You'll Do
- Maintain lab instrumentation including calibration and maintenance, involving vendors and engineers as needed.
- Manage implementation and user accounts for lab management software(s).
- Provide instrument training to new users.
- Manage equipment and supply inventory for the laboratories, ordering and coordinating delivery and installation, as appropriate.
- Manage day-to-day laboratory safety and ensure that the laboratory remains in compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures relating to laboratories.
- Liaise with facilities and EHS support team, reporting issues within the physical laboratory space and working collaboratively to resolve these issues.
- Serve on committees relating to lab operations, as appropriate.
- Other related duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- BS/MS Biology, Chemistry, or equivalent field.
- At least 2 years of relevant lab management/operations experience.
- Experience handling chemicals.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must have great attention to detail.
- Self-motivated.
- Highly collaborative and team-oriented.
Nice to have –
- 2 years experience troubleshooting and/or performing basic maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Compensation
New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. To determine starting pay, we consider multiple job-related factors including a candidate’s skills, education, and experience, market demand, business needs, and internal parity.
