The Audu lab is focused on uncovering and targeting epigenetic enzymes essential to regulating diseases of the vasculature such as atherosclerosis, aneurysmal development, intimal hyperplasia, and arterial calcification. The lab studies known innate immune cellular cross-talk, epigenetic regulation of disease, extracellular protein production, and medicinal chemical synthesis in a high throughput experimentation setting. Thus, our projects sit at the intersection of immunology, biophysics, medicinal chemistry, and vascular surgery.
We seek a lab specialist to manage lab logistics, perform seminal scientific experiments, and contribute to the scientific literature.
Job Description:
- Managing laboratory setup, purchases, and lab inventory of chemicals/reagents/freezer items.
- Ensuring research compliance with UU and SLC VA agencies and maintaining certifications, i.e., developing protocols.
- Interfacing with Core facility staff to generate data and studies.
- Familiarity with molecular biology and immunology experiments, i.e., insect and mammalian cell culture and growth, cell co-culture, western blot, flow cytometry, RT-PCR, etc.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics, i.e., RNA sequencing (or willingness to learn).
- Mouse handling experience.
- Ability and desire to learn new techniques, i.e., ECIS, arterial physiology studies, endothelial biology, macrophage biology, insect cell protein production.
- Baculovirus insect cell protein production and/or chemical synthesis experience desirable (but not required).
- Weekly reports with PI regarding lab management concerns and research updates.
- Training additional researchers.
