Description of Position
We are looking to add to our team a counselor who specializes in working with clients with persistent mental illness and co-occurring addictions increase their self-reliance and reengage in supported employment. You will support clients in recognizing their vocational strengths, setting career goals, and identifying and managing symptoms of mental illness that interfere with career development. As a PACT (Program of Assertive Community Treatment) team member, you'll have the opportunity to work in partnership with a diverse group of clinicians, nurses, housing, and recovery specialists to deliver comprehensive care to our clients.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members to create person-centered treatment plans to address the unique needs of each client
- Foster relationships with nearby businesses to establish employment opportunities for clients
- Help clients develop the skills and strategies needed to succeed in the workplace
- Lead clients in activities of employment preparedness, job seeking, and job development
- Monitor clients' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure clients continue to make progress towards their goals
- Provide vocational-supportive counseling within a continuum of services to help clients develop treatment goals and identify supportive services based upon their treatment plan
- Educate clients and their families about mental illness and locate self-help and support groups
- Transport and/or accompany clients to appointments using your personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided)
Requirements
We accept relevant experience from coursework, internships, volunteer work, part-time and temporary work, freelance work, and seminars/workshops.
- Master’s degree in psychology, social work, vocational rehabilitation, counseling, human services, education, or related field
- Experience working with patients that have mental and behavioral health issues and/or substance use disorders
- Knowledge of vocational counseling, supported employment job placement, individualized job development, networking, and benefits planning
- Obtain CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) certification within 6 months of hire
