Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
POSITION PURPOSE
To produce imaging using ultrasound technology to assist physicians with formulating a medical diagnosis, while complying with safety and regulatory requirements. Specifically conducts ultrasound exams and documents clinically appropriate results for interpretive physician records.
A. JOB KNOWLEDGE
- Reviews Medical Imaging request for proper examination and clinical information.
- Assures that patients are properly screened and assessments are performed before the patient is taken into the ultrasound room.
- Performs Ultrasound scans using proper protocols established by the radiologist.
- Follows emergency procedures when indicated.
- Assures films are properly processed and sent to the radiologist for interpretation.
- Maintains current and competent through continuing education seminars, membership in professional organizations, and review of current literature and memos.
- Assures that the equipment is clean and in good working condition, and reports all equipment problems.
- Attends hospital in-services and meetings.
- Evaluates request form for proper clinical information and, if not available, follows through.
- Is familiar with disaster, fire, and other policies which are important in the day-to-day operation of his/her department.
- Monitors patients' conditions during the procedure.
- Adheres to and supports the established policies of the hospital.
- Assists in other areas of the Imaging Department and surgery as radiology technologist, when needed.
- Attends continuing education programs specific to providing care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric population, as applicable to area of practice.
- Assists with clerical duties and transporting patients when needed.
Qualifications:
License or Certification
ARRT Registered
ARDMS Registered or registry eligible
Total Education, Vocational Training, and Experience
Graduate of an accredited program of Radiological Technology.
