Job Summary:
This full-time position for the Venous Access Team is a specialty role that supports all areas of William P. Clements, Jr. University Hospital to assist with the placement of PIVs, PICCs and midlines utilizing sono-guidance for patients with difficult vasculature.
Minimum Qualifications:
- One (1) year experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
- BLS & ACLS required (AHA or ARC).
- Excellent IV skills required.
- Experience with moderate sedation administration and monitoring needed.
- Current RN license through TX BON or graduate of accredited program in respiratory care licensed by the Texas Medical Board, Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- BSN preferred.
Job Duties:
- Performs and accurately documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments considering age-specific criteria.
- Actively anticipates patient and/or family needs and expectations, utilizing these to develop an appropriate plan of care.
- Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions based on the completed assessment.
- Prioritizes nursing interventions based on completed assessment and promptly identifies changes in condition.
- Evaluates implemented interventions and modifies care accordingly.
- Adheres to appropriate hospital and/or Department of Nursing policies and standards of nursing practice.
- Provides appropriate and timely answers and/or education to patients and families.
- Welcomes and orients patients and families to the unit, encouraging participation in care.
- Advocates for resources that enhance patient safety and participates in budget formulation.
- Performs Peer Evaluation to provide constructive feedback to peers regarding performance.
- Accountable for patient care and quality/safety initiatives.
- Shares professional and technical information with colleagues and students.
- Duties may include interacting with or caring for patients or maintaining patient records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
