Responsible for the overall quality and coordination of nursing care and service provided to patients in the Critical Care, Dialysis, and Intermediate Care Units and those patients receiving dialysis treatment. Provides for effective and efficient delivery of nursing care through the provision of adequate human, material and financial resources, continuous quality improvement activities and through the maintenance of relevant standards of care, practice, policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with Weirton Medical Center policies and procedures and external regulatory/accrediting requirements. Collaborates with physicians and other disciplines to facilitate care planning/problem solving, ethical decision making, and continuous improvement of care and service.
The Director is responsible for:
- Formulating and managing operating budget;
- Contributing to the capital budget;
- Hiring, evaluating, developing, scheduling and disciplining staff;
- Continuously improving care and operational processes;
- Enhancing satisfaction of patients, visitors, medical staff, and employees.
Minimum Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited nursing school; current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of West Virginia or holding an appropriate Multi-State license; current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); successful completion of cardiac rhythm interpretation course or equivalent examination required. Master's Degree or working toward degree preferred. BSN degree or currently enrolled in BSN program required. ACLS required.
Experience:
Three years of related Critical Care experience; five years management experience in an acute care hospital.
