Job Description:
Citadel EHS seeks a full-time Project-level environmental specialist to help the senior leadership team manage high-profile Environmental Compliance related projects and grow the Environmental Compliance (EC) department. The successful candidate is expected to work in Citadel’s Long Beach location, but will be considered for our Glendale, Irvine, or Valencia offices. Limited travel throughout California or Western US should be anticipated.
The Project Environmental Specialist engages with clients and prospects directly to understand their challenges and develop customized solutions. The Project Environmental Specialist maintains and expands relationships with clients, prospects, subconsultants, vendors, and potential recruits.
The successful candidate will have a strong history of managing projects, servicing clients, and selling environmental compliance consulting services. Work tasks will be split between providing technical consulting to clients and assisting in developing business through sales activities. This position reports to the Principal of Environmental Compliance.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meets with prospects and existing clients to discover their needs and develop customized proposals to help solve their challenges.
- Manages projects and/or programs of varying size, scope, and duration.
- Effectively builds and maintains positive working relationships with clients, co-workers, vendors, and peers.
- Produces high quality, well-written reports and work products.
- Is responsible for achieving a personal utilization goal.
- Mentors and manages some staff to help them achieve their goals.
- Consults with Citadel clients to achieve compliance with environmental regulations, reduce risk, and achieve other desirable outcomes. Consulting support may include the following:
- Knowledge of regulations related to EPA, DTSC, Regional Water Quality Control Boards, and Air Quality Management Districts.
- Preparing and managing a variety of reports and plans including Sampling Reports, Work Plans, Management Plans, Health and Safety Plans, and other similar documents.
- Conduct compliance audits, assessments including due diligence, investigations, surveys and inspections and help execute on the recommended corrective actions.
- Familiarity with regulations related to hazardous materials/wastes, air emissions, industrial wastewater, groundwater, and industrial and construction stormwater practices (preferred).
- Develops and delivers applicable training.
- Collaborates with the Principal of Environmental Compliance and Citadel’s business development team to identify new business prospects.
