Job Summary and Qualifications
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director, supervises and performs those duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation or other forms of energy. This person will work in concert with the Director of Diagnostic Services to help facilitate a good workflow within the department. Will work with the Director in the daily operation of the department.
What you will do in this role:
- Provides leadership and supervision as needed in assigned section to provide for orderly workflow and quality performance of duties.
- Works collegially with the leads in all areas of Diagnostic Imaging to help optimize cost reductions.
- Works with the PACS Administrator to help facilitate PACS issues.
- Initiates counseling sessions in accordance with Positive Performance guidelines. Reports and documents problems relating to staffing morale, work, methods, procedures, transfers, and recommends action in all personnel matters for those personnel assigned, in consultation with the Director.
- Participates in and oversees ongoing programs to provide for an organized atmosphere and pleasant appearance of the physical plant especially in those areas accessible to patients.
- Monitors condition, care, and maintenance of diagnostic Radiologic equipment. Provides for documentation of problems, response time of service organization, and completion of repair. Deals directly with service organizations to ensure adequate equipment care according to established parameters.
- Demonstrates C.A.R.E.S principles and behaviors appropriately.
- Coordinates and participates in formal and continuing education programs of the department, instructs and demonstrates specific techniques, initiation of new procedures, and use of equipment.
- Participates in the administration of policies and procedures of the hospital and department, and provides for fair and impartial application to all employees, participates, as necessary, in a variety of tasks relative to the management of the Radiology Department such as preparation of reports, surveys, and special projects.
- Adheres to prescribed standards of Radiation Safety; participates in the Quality Improvement and Safety programs.
- Ensures appropriate recording of hours worked, adhering to hospital policy.
- Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses the system to report potential patient safety issues.
- Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
- Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements on or before the due date.
What qualifications you will need:
- Associate Degree or equivalent in Radiological Technology required.
- ARRT Registry required.
- State of Florida license required (Radiology Tech).
- BLS certification required.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
