RectorSeal is seeking a skilled hands-on Senior Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team and lend their expertise to support through the next phase of its growth. This position will report to the Sr. Accounting Manager and is expected to work with minimum supervision to become the financial and accounting expert in his/her responsible functions. This person requires acute attention to detail, sensitivity to meeting deadlines, advanced critical thinking skills, and a commitment to process improvement. The weekly work schedule requires an office presence Monday through Friday. Standard business hours (8-5) with additional hours during peak times at month-end and quarter-end.
Key Responsibilities:
- Heavily involved in the month-end close process, preparing recurring/ad hoc journal entries, balance sheet adjustments, allocations, and reversals.
- Upload and consolidate financials and prepare supplemental reporting packages.
- Review work papers and/or journal entries prepared by staff accountants.
- Support subsidiaries on accounting matters, including, but not limited to, month-end close activities, developing SOX controls, and integration into the parent Company.
- Reconcile and monitor high-risk liability, intercompany, and accrual accounts.
- Manage Blackline account reconciliation application by ensuring accurate loading of monthly trial balances and ensuring all accounts are assigned monthly.
- Manage the wing-to-wing account reconciliation process, including tracking, publishing, and distributing daily metrics throughout the reconciliation periods.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors and work with stakeholders to ensure timely fulfillment of auditors’ data requests.
- Conduct variance analysis/commentary on financial statements and financial presentations.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
- Other assignments/responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business.
- 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Demonstrate business acumen with a proven ability to identify trends and opportunities and make recommendations for improvement.
- Strong analytical skills, including an inquisitive approach to tackling projects.
- Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Exhibit strong work ethics and motivated self-starter attitudes.
- Highly attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Proactive communication.
- Must be able to interact with all departments and all levels of the organization.
Preferred Requirements:
- CPA and/or master’s degree is a decisive advantage.
- Experience with JD Edwards.
- Consolidation and Onstream experience.
