What You'll Do:
The Associate Portfolio Manager works as part of a team supporting Senior Portfolio Managers. Specific responsibilities include:
- Understand client asset liability profiles, participate in tactical asset allocation formulation, and provide analytical support.
- Monitor portfolios’ positions and risk analytics compared to asset allocation targets. Highlight deviations and recommend orders to rebalance portfolios.
- Monitor portfolio positions and trade orders for compliance with client guidelines.
- Generate purchase or sell orders to manage client cashflows, FX rebalancing, and active investments.
- Manage portfolio cash balances and ensure cash balances are consistent with product guidelines and current investment strategy.
- Review proposed guideline amendments, custodial changes, and other activities that may impact accounts.
- Review and resolve any potential post-trade compliance breaches.
- Liaise with other departments internally, including Legal/Compliance, Sales/Marketing, Investment Operations, and other Investment Teams.
- Understand investment decisions derived from Fixed Income strategy meetings with respect to the implementation of investment ideas.
- Assist with the preparation of investment and portfolio exposure reports.
- Participation in investment meetings or client presentations.
- Develop tools that can streamline recurring tasks and simplify insurance investing.
What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with two to five years of industry-related experience. Experience with fixed income Credit, Currency, and/or Global Markets is preferred. Candidates must possess strong communication, quantitative, analytical, and computer skills. Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment is vital to this role. - Ability to demonstrate general knowledge and curiosity about fixed income markets and insurance investing.
- Strong communication, analytical, and computer skills (Bloomberg, Excel, and comfort with quantitative tools), and be very detail-oriented.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, regulations, and accounting standards.
- Strong work ethic managing to market timelines or events.
- Pro-active personality with a desire to continually improve and accept challenges to institute change.
- Team-oriented/collaborative – must want to work towards and support a common goal and actively seek ways to contribute.
- Competitive Drive – must relish the day-to-day fight to think/act ahead of the market and have a high desire to achieve good execution for our clients.
- Confidence in representing AllianceBernstein in the marketplace where needed.
- Works well under pressure – must be able to remain calm and focused while multi-tasking in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a low tolerance for errors.
- Coding experience beneficial, SQL, Python or use of data visualization tools like PowerBI.
