Job Summary:
UI Health is seeking a Vascular Sonographer Technologist to join our Vascular Lab. Vascular Sonographers operate specialized equipment that transmits high frequency, ultrasound waves in order to produce pictures of the vascular system. They primarily scan arterial and venous blood vessels.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs the technical aspects of all arterial and venous studies on hospital and clinical patients.
- Positions patients for scans; sets up and adjusts equipment for each scan.
- Prepares supplies, instruments and equipment and assists physicians during related procedures.
- Selects and adjusts equipment and transducers to appropriate settings to obtain, record, store, transmit and print optimal images.
- Confers with physician to determine if additional images or information is required.
- Assures the completion of patient records, preliminary report documentation and patient charges.
- Communicates with other departments to successfully schedule various exams for the patients and schedule of same day add-on patients.
- Cleans and disinfects transducers according to manufacturer recommendation and established infection control standards.
- Maintains adequate supplies in vascular ultrasound rooms and informs the manager when supplies are depleted.
- Provides technical assistance and instructions to students, employees, and medical residents.
- Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Current/valid registration, certification or licensure in vascular sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RVT) or Registered Vascular Sonographer through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Must have RVT Credential.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
