Job Summary:
A Rigging Specialist will be responsible for setting up and repairing rigging for the movement of heavy equipment. The employee will also be required to prepare the materials before loading, set up the rigging equipment, operate heavy equipment machinery, and dismantle the rigging after the job. Additionally, the employee will communicate with the Project Manager(s), General Foreman, and Superintendents to ensure compliance with state safety regulations. At times, the employee will assist other facets of the business.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in an industrial environment
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, rigging equipment, and heavy machinery
- 3+ years working as a rigger
- Minimum Level 1 NCCCO Certification
- Ability to work at heights and in noisy environments
- Certification to operate forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and Broderson Cranes
- CDL License with a clean driving record
- Effective communication with customers, vendors, and workers
- Ability to make quick decisions
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans
- Inspect and prepare loads that need to be moved
- Set, align, and level heavy equipment machinery
- Select appropriate rigging gear
- Prepare rigging equipment including beams, pulleys, clamps, and bolts
- Inspect rigging before final use
- Monitor and maintain rigging equipment
- Maneuver loads using heavy equipment machinery and by hand
- Move heavy equipment through narrow openings and doors
- Ensure compliance with state and company safety procedures
- Communicate with the construction team
- Break down rigging equipment and conduct post-rigging inspections
- Resolve problems when they arise
Physical Demands:
Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; sit; talk; hear; stand; climb; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 50-75 pounds.
Work Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at construction sites where they are exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, risk of electrical shock, fumes, or airborne particles. Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid, and/or rainy spring, summer, fall, and winter weather, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions, is expected. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
When working on site, you will be required to wear common protective or safety equipment, such as but not limited to safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
