Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Nutritionist III for NJMS - Pediatrics. The primary purpose of the Nutritionist III position is to work under the direction of the chief nutritionist or designee, implements the nutrition and breast-feeding components of the program. Assesses nutritional needs of participants in the program and provides individual and group nutrition counseling and education in accordance with regulations and guidelines. Collects data and prepares reports required by State and administration. Does outreach to hospital clinics, maternity services, and community-based organizations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Certifies and re-certifies applicants in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Collects, organizes and/or interprets nutrition assessment and socio-economic data on individual participants.
- Develops individual/family nutrition care plans based on assessment of nutritional needs and available sources of nutrients.
- Assists in the development and implementation of the Nutrition Education Plan.
- Prepares curriculum for nutrition education classes and conducts regular classes.
- Evaluates and develops nutrition education literature for distribution to participants.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Graduate from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s Degree in dietetics or nutrition.
- One (1) year of professional experience in dietetics or nutrition or successful completion of an approved dietetic internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Community nutrition experience preferred.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish, French, or Creole an asset.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- This position requires standing, sitting, and walking one-third of the time; requires talking and use of the hands and fingers over two-thirds of the time; requires that lifting or force be exerted up to 25 pounds under one-third of the time; and has special vision requirements: Close vision at 20 inches or less.
