PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Medical Assistant Lead, Large Office is responsible for assisting the Practice Manager in overseeing daily clinical operations for large sized offices of 4.5 or more clinicians and 6 or more Medical Assistants. Ensures Medical Assistants perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of clinicians for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports practice manager and PA management in the training, development and competency evaluation of the Medical Assistant staff, monitoring of patient visit time and experience, and office staff compliance to organization’s infection prevention program.
- Trains and mentors newly promoted MA Leads within the geographical region.
- Assumes all clinical administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Practice Manager.
- Serves as a liaison to supply chain for clinical product testing and choice.
- Acts as designated lead for piloting new clinical processes and clinical equipment.
- Maintains high quality patient experience, welcomes patients, ensures a safe patient environment, and adherence to infection control policy and procedures.
- Performs and documents patient’s intake vitals.
- Interviews patients and updates medical records accurately.
- Prepares patients for clinician examination and assists clinicians in necessary procedures.
- Performs and documents vaccine and medication reconciliation.
- Ensures adherence to vaccine cold chain management.
- Completes patient follow-up and tasks assigned to meet patient needs.
- Proficient in lab services including phlebotomy and lab sample collection.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with leading and supervising Medical Assistants. Assists with performance evaluations.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Minimum High School diploma required. Medical foreign doctors must have a Bachelor of Science degree in General Medicine from a regionally accredited university or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years of Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare setting required. 3 years as a PA Medical Assistant preferred.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
- MA Diploma/Certification required OR a minimum of 3 years of MA experience will commensurate Diploma/Certification requirement.
- MA Certification preferred.
- Active BLS certification required.

- Ability to function independently with quick decision-making skills.
- Ability to handle customer service complaints.
- Strong workflow management ability.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health recordkeeping systems.

- Patient-facing, direct patient care.
- Travel to other office locations as needed.
- Indoor work, with exposure to hazards.
OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Vision, sense of sound, sense of touch.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Lift/Carry 20 lbs. or less, Push/Pull 41-200 lbs.
