About the Agency: The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services has a position available within our Nursing Unit. The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi's at-risk children and families. Position Overview: The individual selected for this position will provide field support to county and resource staff by offering timely and accurate Nursing assistance for staff and children in custody, children in prevention phases, and children in investigation phases.
What You'll Need to be Successful
- Knowledge and understanding of medications and diagnoses.
- Knowledge and understanding of medical and therapeutic needs for medically fragile children.
- Knowledge of resources to meet medical needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Typically requires state licensure as a Registered Nurse and 5+ years of experience.
- Experience reviewing, reading, and interpreting physician's orders, documentation, and recommendations.
- Experience coordinating care to meet medical needs.
- Experience tracking and monitoring to ensure all medical and dental appointments, as well as all follow-ups, are completed timely.
- Experience communicating with healthcare providers and teams about treatment needs and facilitating partnerships with community agencies and providers.
Examples of Work
Second-level Nurse Case Management position accountable for assessing and evaluating service providers to ensure compliance with state and federal program requirements. Determines program eligibility for treatments, exams, and evaluations and deals with treatments that are more complex or involve coordination of multiple providers. Duties may also include case finding, health teaching, health counseling, assessment, and evaluation of providers of services and related sites. Communicates with doctors, patients, participants, and families, and educates patients on care.
Minimum Qualifications
