Responsible for providing basic nutrition assessments and care planning for patients and residents. Implements business practices in order to uphold hospital mission and values.
Responsibilities
- Directs dietary care of patients with basic nutrition needs including screening, assessment, and care planning to ensure patient dietary needs and patient satisfaction levels are met.
- Educates medical staff and counsels patients and their families on proper nutritional care.
- Manages and promotes food and nutrition programs according to Hackensack Meridian Health standards and policies.
- Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, nutrition care, special diets, and menu requests.
- Stays current with the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
- Probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as Hackensack Meridian Health policies and procedures (e.g., HIPAA/Privacy Act, quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel).
- Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements, and communicates them to other departments.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Entry-level experience.
- PC skills and its applicable applications.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:
- Acute care clinical or related experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Credentialed Professional (Registered Dietitian) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) within 60 days of hire.
