GENERAL SUMMARY AND OVERVIEW STATEMENT
The Hypertension Service is a clinical and research program within the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Hypertension at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Our research focuses on renal denervation, which is a newly FDA approved procedure to treat hypertension. The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to engage in many facets of clinical research, such as recruitment, manuscript preparation, and working with trial participants. The department is looking for a motivated individual to work as a Research Assistant helping in the development, implementation, and analysis of research protocols.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee three to four active clinical studies; tasks include the planning, development, and implementation of clinical protocols.
2. Manage recruitment, screening, enrollment, consenting and conducting study visits of clinical research subjects.
3. Collect and enter data and manage study databases.
4. Preparation and submission of research protocol to the IRB.
5. Ensure that clinical research activities are carried out in compliance with Partners IRB and established research protocol.
6. Assist in data analysis.
7. Provides collaboration and administrative coordination between investigators and ancillary departments, research subjects, and/or sponsoring organizations.
8. Participates in manuscript preparation, editing and submission. Specific tasks include literature searches and reference checking and documenting using EndNote software.
9. Comfortable speaking with patients, taking blood pressures, and documenting protocol deviations & adverse events
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- We are looking for candidates who can start as early as June
- Minimum Bachelor's degree
- 2 years commitment
- Experience in clinical research methods and clinical research protocols preferred
- Experience with IRB submission is a plus
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Experience in clinical research
Experience working with patients in a clinical setting
Experience in data collection, data management, and data analysis methods
Proficient in Microsoft Office, database management, and possibly EndNote
Organized and dependable
Must possess initiative
Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills
Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
