Adjunct College Laboratory Technician - Veterinary Technology
GENERAL DUTIES
Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework.
Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories.
Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials.
Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards.
Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities.
Manages equipment and materials inventories.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Work under the supervision of the program director/senior/chief CLT in the Health Sciences Department; assists with the operational coordination of the Veterinary Technology Center (VTC). Duties include:
Animal care, husbandry, and environmental enrichment.
Assist with the organization and maintenance of the Vet Tech Center. Includes assisting/providing medical care, detailed and consistent record-keeping, set-up/break-down of teaching lab classes, health checks, and other related duties.
Assist with the maintenance, troubleshooting and use of equipment including radiological, surgical, anesthetic, environmental, and regulatory/safety equipment.
Ensures compliance with all government (federal, state, local) and internal regulatory agencies, as they relate to the operation of the VTC.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma with a minimum of four years related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
NYS licensed veterinary technician (LVT) and a graduate of an AVMA-accredited program in Veterinary Technology is preferred, but not required.
Minimum of two years’ experience working as a veterinary assistant or LVT in a veterinary hospital, shelter, or laboratory setting.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; the ability to work as part of a team and cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Experience with organizational tasks, computerized record keeping, controlled drugs and inventory.
Flexible work hours required.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
COMPENSATION: $31.22 - $45.11 per hour.
