Position: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Location: Up and Down the Outer Banks of North Carolina
Who we are?
Ocracoke Health Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to provide primary medical care to the uninsured, underinsured, and migrant community! We do not turn any patient away, so of course, we accept commercially insured patients as well!
We were just awarded a Behavioral Health Expansion Grant with funding to hire a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS)! In addition, we will be purchasing a mobile unit, such as a 25-foot van, to travel between all three of our sites and throughout the Outer Banks to provide services to patients!
What you will do on a daily basis:
- Conduct in-depth interviews and assessments, diving into health histories and understanding unique psychosocial and cultural factors.
- Order and interpret lab tests, collaborate with physicians, and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications, educate patients and families about health promotion, and connect them with valuable community resources.
- Collaborate with our clinical team, participate in peer reviews, and contribute to our continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Monitor patient progress, triage inquiries, and ensure continuity of care between visits.
What we offer:
- Salary ranges from $125,000 - $145,000 per year
- Schedule of Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm

Requirements
What we are looking for:
- You have graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- You’re licensed to practice in North Carolina
- Hold a Controlled Substance Registration Certification (DEA)
- Residency in Psychiatry is required.
- You’ve worked with both adult and child/adolescent populations
- Skilled in medication management and therapy
- Spanish speaking is strongly preferred, but not required.
