Position Summary
The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities Programs Division at the CDD is seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual for their part-time (.50fte) Health Education Consultant position.
The consultant will plan and coordinate the development, implementation, and execution of community training activities to include live trainings, webinars and podcasts, insuring the values of the Center for Development and Disability including inclusion.
The Health Education Consultant will also
- Assist in the development of educational resources and opportunities that are specialized in ASD and insure cultural awareness specific to New Mexico
- Present for providers, families, and individuals with ASD throughout New Mexico with an understanding of ASD and cultural diversity
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, as demonstrated through the interview process
- Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals; and
- Exhibit professionalism and positivity in a changing environment.

Conditions of Employment
- May require discipline-specific licensure and/or professional certification, as specified by the department in the preferences.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications

- Background and experience in training and understanding of the concepts of inclusion and self-determination.
- Experience working with youth and adults with disabilities and ASD on issues specific to disability and self-advocacy.
- UNM work experience.

- Spanish speaker.
- Lived experience of disability.
Additional Requirements
This position requires passing a Background Check with Fingerprinting.
