THE ROLE:
This customer-facing AI and Acquisition Subject Matter Expert role, hosted within the HPI New Business Sales team, focuses on driving HP's growth within the rapidly evolving AI PC market. The individual will collaborate with sales teams and partners to unlock new revenue opportunities, particularly within Commercial segments, including RFP-driven requests and Proof-of-Concept projects. By leveraging deep product knowledge and AI development concepts, they will nurture client relationships and expand market presence.
The role involves analyzing market competition, gathering customer feedback, and sharing insights with internal teams to improve solutions. The ideal candidate will balance strong technical skills (such as AI model deployment and cloud/local systems development) with sales acumen, including expertise in DevOps frameworks, machine learning, data science, and client hardware. They will also act as an AI evangelist, guiding the broader sales team and helping clients integrate HP into their operations.
A critical aspect of this role is serving as a trusted advisor to large, strategic customers. The individual will translate complex technical information into actionable business value, work on technical responses to RFPs, and deliver compelling sales presentations. They will collaborate closely with account managers to develop tailored solutions for clients, offer accurate sales forecasts, and participate in strategic planning to streamline sales processes and drive growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage with the largest and most strategic customers to understand their goals, challenges, and technical needs, offering tailored AI and PC solutions.
- Leverage deep product and AI knowledge to help clients solve complex business problems, fostering long-term relationships and growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with account managers to identify and nurture both new and existing revenue streams, utilizing advanced sales strategies to meet targets.
- Provide technical expertise to sales teams, preparing responses to RFPs and guiding Proof-of-Concept initiatives.
- Deliver persuasive and effective presentations, showcasing how HP’s AI offerings meet customer needs.
- Contribute to sales forecasts, support strategic planning, and identify opportunities to streamline sales processes for enhanced efficiency.
- Mentor junior team members, sharing best practices and expertise to help them achieve their sales goals.
- Stay informed on industry regulations, sales tools, and evolving technologies to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
- Strong understanding of AI development, machine learning applications, DevOps frameworks, and client hardware solutions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical information into business-focused insights.
- Proven experience in consultative selling, technical sales, or pre-sales environments, ideally with AI, PC, or related technologies.
- Ability to work independently and within a core team, prioritizing tasks effectively and fostering collaboration across various stakeholders.
- Experience developing and delivering sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue goals, with a strong customer-centric approach.
- Domestic travel may exceed 75%.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years in technical sales, consultative selling, or account management, ideally in AI or technology sectors.
- Familiarity with large public procurements and co-design engagements.
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical or sales-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business Management); MBA appreciated.
LOCATION:
- Any US city near major airport in Eastern or Central US Time Zone
Salary:
- The on-target earnings (OTE) range for this role is $195,000 to $245,000 annually, with a 60/40 (salary/incentive) mix. There are additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
