The Senior Advisor works to ensure AHS values, goals and principles are implemented and integrated in the delivery of HR services for all AHS leaders, employees, physicians and volunteers. As the Senior Advisor you will be responsible for the delivery, integration and evaluation of human resources processes, frameworks, solutions and services to an identified client group, ensuring they align with, and support Alberta Health Services (AHS) provincial approaches, organizational priorities and direction; Our People Strategy; and evolving best practices.
The Senior Advisor will provide an enhanced focus on workforce initiatives and priorities, as it relates to providing HR advice, assessment of workplace issues and advice on performance management, collective agreement interpretation, workplace assessments, mediation and conflict management, and investigations for both a unionized and non-unionized dynamic workforce. Fostering and maintaining a positive collaborative working relationship with operational leaders, HR networks and service centres, and Union representatives is a critical component of this role. The Senior Advisor must interpret client needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to non-standard issues and requests including engagement of Human Resources Centres of Expertise as required. The Senior Advisor provides direct HR support to senior leadership within the identified client group, while providing coaching and mentorship to Human Resources Business Partnerships (HRBP) team members. Travel within the Zone is a requirement of this position.

Required Qualifications:Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related area. A minimum of 5 years in a human resources role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Demonstrated critical thinking skills, with ability to apply a broad lens on issues that impact beyond a portfolio (Program area, internal and external stakeholders and government). A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Travel within the South Zone is a requirement of this position. Combination of education and experience will be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Influence and credibility, with the ability to navigate complex situations with appropriate outcomes. Effective navigation of politically sensitive environments. Coaching and mentoring for both team members and client groups. Relationship building with all partners and all levels in the organization, with the ability to build credibility and inspire confidence in the work of HRBP with clients. Critical thinking and decision making, with ability to meet deadlines. Results oriented, with ability to identify and deliver unique solutions. Collaboration and communication (written and oral), with ability to produce high quality reports. Ability to lead and manage change. Resilience and flexibility in a complex, rapidly changing environment. Ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:CPHR or other recognized designation. Healthcare or other public sector experience. Experience working within a unionized environment and/or an organization with multiple legislative requirements. Project management experience working with complex initiatives. Experience with group facilitation and conflict resolution.
