The candidate shall recruit, train, assign, and supervise volunteer teachers and helpers in the Catholic Religious Education Program for children.
The candidate shall maintain communication and information flow with parents and families of the students, including a family handbook with a calendar of events, periodic Catholic bulletin announcements, and other activities.
The candidate must ensure preparation of certificates, awards and presentations for students and staff.
The candidate shall maintain a professional, courteous relationship with Chaplain Corps Staff, other candidates, volunteers and other military and civilian agencies.
Attend regularly scheduled chapel council meetings and other meetings as required by the Catholic DRE (Director of Religious Education).
The candidate shall coordinate all programs under the direction of the Catholic DRE, including possible Vacation Bible School program (01 MAY-30 MAY), keeping the Catholic DRE informed of the status of programs, future scheduling and any problems that may arise.
Provide initial and annual orientation and training for program volunteers.
Provide for teacher training sessions and other staff meetings as needed.
The candidate shall be present at the Chapel when classes are in session, to provide for administrative needs of students, teachers and parents.
Be able to work with the Protestant RE coordinator on any ecumenical projects deemed appropriate by the DRE (Director of Religious Education).
Education and qualifications:
Be able to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the tenants of faith of the Roman Catholic community and understand the requirements for support of children, youth and adults onboard military installations.
Knowledge and experience as an Administrative Assistant are required.
Be an active member of a Catholic Community and have working knowledge in the Roman Catholic Faith and must have experience in working with the Catholic community.
The candidate must be a practicing and confirmed Catholic, who is in good standing with the Catholic Church.
Possess a bachelor’s degree in education or have experience with Catholic children’s religious education programs. The candidate shall have at least two years of experience as a Catholic Religious Education Coordinator or related field in education within the past 5 years.
The candidate shall have the ability to perform services that are like this requirement; the ability to specifically execute and supervise a comprehensive program for Catholic Religious Education.
Hours of operation:
At minimum, 10 hours weekly must be performed at the chapel during working hours Monday through Thursday.
