Senior Hydrogeologist
Montgomery & Associates (M&A) has a unique opportunity for an experienced senior environmental hydrogeologist to join our team, with a principal focus on providing senior leadership on a long-term Superfund project in the Phoenix area.
This high-profile project management role entails technical oversight of a dedicated multidisciplinary team working in parallel on multiple complex tasks and project components. Due to the importance of this project at M&A, the person in this position will regularly interact with M&A senior leadership, as well as other project managers, technical staff, and administrative personnel. Success in this position requires advanced technical and communication skills, with an emphasis on developing and maintaining trusting relationships with the client, legal counsel, regulators, and other project stakeholders.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Develop and manage the execution of groundwater, vadose zone, and indoor air investigations, monitoring, and remedial actions
- Coordinate and lead regular internal, client, and regulatory meetings to report and collaborate on various project tasks and initiatives
- Collaborate with client management and legal teams for strategic planning associated with regulatory, responsible party, and stakeholder negotiations
- Design, oversee preparation of, and provide senior technical review for critical compliance and non-compliance reports and memoranda
- Provide high-level review of and prepare comments on reports and technical submittals prepared by EPA and other stakeholders
- Provide senior leadership and mentoring to M&A data analysis, database management, modeling, and field teams
- Develop work plans, scopes of work, and cost estimates for various new and ongoing tasks
The hired professional will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrology, or engineering; graduate degree preferred
- A minimum of 20 years professional experience with the responsibilities listed above
- Professional consulting experience managing large-scale environmental projects
- Professional registration, (P.G.) preferred
- Professional experience investigating, testing, and conceptualizing subsurface hydrogeologic conditions and contaminant fate and transport
- Familiarity with groundwater models, groundwater remediation technologies, and CERCLA regulations
- Professional experience with vapor intrusion and indoor air investigations and remediation a plus
- Project management experience
- Effective communication skills including technical writing and presenting technical work in large group settings
- Ability to pass background check and drug test if requested
- Current and valid driver’s license
- Ability to legally work and reside in the United States
Preferred location for this position is Phoenix, however Tucson or Flagstaff will be considered.
