ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs routine (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) reconciliations, entry of routine journal entries, and compliance reporting.
- Assists in month-end closing and year-end closing processes. Assists in management of accounting records and documentation.
- Guides and manages the posting of sales and payments in the YMCA sales system. Management and assistance in creation of offerings.
- Daily posting of bank activity and routine reconciliation of bank accounts.
- Assists the other accounting staff, and serves as a backup when necessary.
- Completes a variety of accounting, financial analysis, and budget projects.
- Assists branch staff and serves as the point person for software and business questions.
- Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner. Trouble shoot and submit support tickets for accounting software issues.
- Helps to maintain internal controls and improve processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- On site work environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
- Understanding of basic accounting concepts and applications including cash reconciliation, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Two years or more related experience, including direct supervision of others, preferred.
- Experience with accounting software, electronic document management, and excel.
- Attention to detail, critical thinker, with solid analytical skills.
- Organized and able to work on multiple projects, with a variety of personalities.
- Able to commit to critical first of the month deadlines & month end close schedule.
- Not for profit accounting experience preferred.
- Willing to work towards automating certain processes & striving for continuous improvement in processes.
- Grant accounting experience preferred
