Infection Preventionist
We are seeking a diligent and experienced Infection Preventionist to join our team in Downey, CA. As an Infection Preventionist, you will be pivotal in implementing and maintaining our infection prevention and control programs. Your role will include monitoring infection control problems, disease outbreaks, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and national health regulations. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with expertise in epidemiology and will be adept at conducting surveillance, collecting and analyzing data, and providing educational support to hospital staff on best practices in infection prevention.
Compensation: $145,000.00 - $185,000.00 plus Bonus, Signing Bonus, and Paid Relocation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the implementation of infection prevention and control programs and policies across the organization.
- Maintain and analyze infection data using dashboards to monitor and report on infection cases, contributing towards the annual infection prevention and control program plans.
- Conduct investigations, interviews, and chart reviews to gather information on infection cases and outbreaks.
- Develop and facilitate educational programs on infection prevention for both clinical staff and patients, ensuring updated and relevant information is delivered.
- Review and update infection control policies and workflows with a focus on regulatory compliance and best practices.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of infection prevention and control measures.
- Advise and collaborate cross-functionally to support decision-making on infection control related issues.
- Ensure compliance with standards set by bodies such as the CDC and NHSN.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of experience in infection prevention or a related field.
- Advanced degree (Master's) in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology, or a relevant field plus two years of healthcare experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree in similar fields plus four years of healthcare experience; OR an RN License with six years of healthcare experience.
- Must obtain an Infection Control Certificate within 24 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in clinical quality management, patient management, or occupational health.
- Familiarity with health care compliance and risk management.
- Proven ability to handle crisis management and emergency preparedness.
Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis and report generation.
- Expertise in epidemiological research and public health practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of hospital staff and management.
- Capability to manage and lead projects autonomously and in team settings.
- Adaptability and flexibility in handling the dynamics of infectious disease control.
