Join our team as a Medical Laboratory Scientist! Are you a skilled and experienced laboratory professional looking for a challenging and rewarding career? We're seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. This role involves performing a variety of laboratory tests, ensuring accuracy and quality, and contributing to patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, reporting, and maintaining records.
- Maintain records for proficiency testing samples.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow quality control policies and document all quality control activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
- Take corrective actions when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
- Report STATS or Critical results to clients.
- Answer questions from customers or other lab personnel.
- Maintain complete records of all testing performed.
- Maintain the general appearance of the department.
- Ensure reagents/test kits are properly labeled and dated.
- Review and train on new procedures.
- Attend department and training meetings.
- Participate in safety training sessions.
- Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
- BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433.
- Foreign-educated candidates must provide a credential evaluation from IERF.
- United States-educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript.
- National certification as an MT/MLT from a recognized organization (ASCP or AMT).
- 1 year of clinical experience in highly complex testing (preferred for those with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology).
- National and State licensure as required.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of basic laboratory testing.
- Good computer skills and ability to adapt to multiple computer systems.
- Knowledge of QC and QA.
- Knowledge of all areas of the laboratory.
