As a Social Impact Intern, you will support the Best Buy Foundation in its mission to build brighter futures for teens through technology via a variety of fundraising and awareness-building efforts. This role will help raise awareness of the Foundation and its initiatives (like the Best Buy Teen Tech Center program) with both customers and employees, and support fundraising efforts, including at the Best Buy Foundation Charity Classic (an annual multi-day fundraising event that engages Best Buy vendors in various activities and a gala). A successful candidate will bring excitement for the Foundation and its mission, and experience in research and communications.
The internship runs from June to August 2024. It is a hybrid role, meaning you must be located within a drivable distance to our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You’ll be asked to come into the office 3 days per week. This internship does not have the potential to lead to a full-time opportunity. Housing will not be provided.
What you’ll do
- Create presentation materials and communications that increase employee awareness of Foundation programs
- Conduct research and develop reports on existing Foundation donors
- Support a variety of Best Buy Foundation Charity Classic events
- Learn about the variety of ways a corporate Foundation can engage stakeholders in advancing its mission
Minimum Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or associate degree from an accredited college/university, with an expected graduation date between fall 2024 and spring 2027
- Must be able to work in the Richfield, MN corporate office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
- Must be able to commit to being no more than 2 hours driving distance from the Minneapolis Corporate Campus - 7601 Penn Ave South Richfield, MN 55423
- Must be able to work 40 hours a week Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30am-5pm
- Must be able to commit to the internship start and end date of 6/3/2024- 8/9/2024
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization.
Preferred qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with building and delivering presentations
- Ability to synthesize a large variety of information and consolidate it into effective reports
- Experience in donor relationships or nonprofit fundraising, or a strong interest in learning about those topics
- A general understanding of the experiences of employees that work in a store environment
