RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Provides support to the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory by performing all technical aspects of specimen receipt, assessment, and pre-analytical processing. Performs accurate and timely functions related to the receipt of laboratory specimens including patient registration, specimen processing, sample quality assessment, troubleshooting, and test ordering based on specific clinical pathways. Also performs detailed data entry, instrument maintenance, quality assurance, customer service, and organizational tasks necessary for the efficient function of the laboratory.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High school graduate or a GED certificate with successful completion of courses in biology, chemistry, and mathematics.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Working knowledge of clinical laboratory and tests performed.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate of Science degree from an accredited college in Medical Technology, related science, or clinical discipline preferred. Medical Laboratory Technician certification preferred.
