Job Summary: Leads clinical laboratory section(s) and/or laboratory support functions within the Diagnostic Laboratories of the Medical Center. Provides direction for the supervisors of the individual laboratories and serves as a key resource to integrate clinical activities and optimize patient care. With the lab leadership team, defines clinical performance standards and quality measures, monitors actual performance and when necessary identifies problems and initiates corrective actions. Manages staff, operating budget and participates in capital budget.

The VUMC Anatomical Pathology Department is in need of a Lab Manager to join the team! This role will primarily be based at our MetroCenter Laboratory but will also have a secondary location at our main campus Vanderbilt Clinic.
Department Summary:
Our new 110,000-square-foot diagnostic core laboratory supports the needs of Vanderbilt University Medical Center's inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, regional hospitals, and extramural practice customers. Located five miles north of the 21st Avenue Nashville campus, the laboratory has expanded capacity to bring more testing to Vanderbilt, deploy innovative technology, improve patient care, and enhance team collaboration. The laboratory offers an expanded test menu supporting routine and specialized testing and aims to become the preferred reference laboratory provider in the southeast region.
The Division of Anatomic Pathology, encompassing 25 primary and 9 secondary faculty, along with the divisions of Hematopathology, Neuropathology and Renal Pathology, provides subspecialized anatomic pathology services in breast pathology, gynecologic pathology, genitourinary pathology, pulmonary/thoracic pathology, head and neck pathology, endocrine pathology, cardiac pathology, bone and soft tissue pathology, gastrointestinal/liver/pancreas pathology, pediatric pathology, hematopathology, neuropathology, renal pathology, cytopathology and autopsy pathology. The anatomic pathology labs include state of the art immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and electron microscopy facilities.
