DescriptionA Brief Overview
Our Level 1 Trauma Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 20 bed combined medical-surgical unit which cares for more than 1600 critically ill children each year. When a child is transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital’s team of caring pediatric staff is available to provide the highest level of expert critical care in Northeast Ohio. This includes care and treatment for traumatic injuries, critical illnesses, and for children recovering from surgery. We also treat children referred from the emergency department and other pediatric divisions.
