CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Survey Instrument Person - Central/Eastern Connecticut to join our Infrastructure - Transportation/Survey & SUE Team at our office in Hartford, CT.
YOUR IMPACT
CHA's comprehensive approach to survey and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) is the hallmark of a successful project. Our approach includes a variety of tools and skillsets from boots on the ground to advanced measurement technology including the use of drones. We are focused on putting all the elements together to create sustainable solutions that result in accurate and precise work.
The Survey Instrument Person - Central/Eastern Connecticut is responsible for supporting data collection efforts of detailed surveying tasks. This is an entry level technical position that is focused on working with and supporting experienced Survey Crew Chiefs to complete various assigned tasks. All field survey work conducted by a Survey Instrument Person will be supervised by a crew member who is in responsible charge. This includes basic survey computations, records research, equipment maintenance and operations.
The Survey Instrument Person - Central/Eastern Connecticut will be measured on their flexibility and ability to work as a team member, ability to support the completion of assigned tasks, and ability to become proficient with various company data collection standards and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS
- High school Diploma required; A.A.S and/or B.S degree, Survey or related preferred
- NSPS-CST Level I certification preferred
- Valid US driver's license required
- No prior experience required; however, prior internship(s) and/or applicable coursework preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office is preferred
- Good oral and written communications
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn about the surveying industry
- Has a strong knowledge in math, especially with trigonometry and geometry
- Strong ability to work in a team environment
- Ability and desire to meet client driven schedules
- Ability to travel short-term is required
- Must be able to carry and lift heavy equipment over rough, uneven terrain and physically navigate varying field conditions
- Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions required
- Ability to represent him/herself and the company in a professional manner to the public
