Job Summary:
Provides expert leadership in the Burn ICU and Center for Human Nutrition to ensure optimal cost-effective drug therapy. This includes developing specific pharmacotherapeutic goals, recommending a regimen and developing a monitoring plan to meet the individualized drug therapy needs of the patient. The clinical specialist is responsible for leading efforts in the prevention and reporting of medication errors and adverse drug reactions according to policy and works to continuously improve process and practice in the institution to enhance safety of medication therapy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates the delivery of clinical pharmacy services in assigned areas (in concert with Operational Managers).
- Ensures the quality, safety, and consistency of clinical Pharmacy services in assigned areas.
- Develops and implements clinical programs designed to enhance patient outcomes and promote the most cost-effective utilization of medications.
- Develops and implements educational programs that advance the professional development, knowledge and effectiveness of staff and clinical pharmacists.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
- Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Intermediate): Has demonstrated a high level of proficiency in understanding computers or has successfully completed additional training for applications that are used to support more complex or automated medication use processes.
- Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Expert): Demonstrates expert knowledge of the appropriate rules and regulations as they apply to the organization.
- Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation & Dispensing (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully review, prepare and dispense prescribed medications.
- Medication Management (Expert): Is a recognized expert and authority in Medication Management.
- Program Management (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to administer a program or product.
- Mentoring & Coaching (Advanced): Demonstrates high levels of training and mentoring expertise in challenging and complex situations.
