To our prospective teammates,
My name is Michael Bergman, MD. I’m the Critical Care Program Medical Director for Franciscan Health Olympia Fields, located in Olympia Fields, IL. I’ve been a part of Sound for 4 years. I’m proud of the intensivist practice we are building at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields and welcome interest from critical care-trained physicians coming out of training or looking to make a career change to explore our group and our practice. I would like to share more about who we are and what we do — specifically about our people, practice, and purpose — as you consider your options:
People
- We are a team of 4 intensivist physicians providing on-site day coverage in the 32-bed ICU with medical, surgical, and cardiovascular patients.
- Our intensivists have a diverse mix of clinical practice time.
- Nights are covered by Sound tele-ICU and onsite critical care fellows.
- Within the hospital, we work closely with the multi-disciplinary team within the unit to collaboratively care for patients.
- Olympia Fields is a safe, quiet community with numerous parks and above average ranking public schools.
Practice
- Franciscan Health Olympia Fields is a 375-bed, acute care teaching hospital with a comprehensive internal medicine residency and an ACGME-accredited critical care fellowship program. The teaching environment fosters the hospital culture of continued learning and research.
- The ICU operates as a closed unit except for the co-management of cardiovascular ICU patients.
- Critical care fellows and internal medicine residents round in the ICU.
- We are seeking board-certified or board-eligible critical care physicians (MD or DO) who possess or can obtain an Illinois license, have a commitment to excellence in clinical service, are forward-thinking and demonstrate problem-solving abilities necessary in the ICU, and demonstrate the ability to work as a team member and perform all technical skills in the critical care setting.
- We work in EPIC, with access to our own internal informatics platform.
- Full-time physicians work an average of 15 shifts per month, block shift schedule, generally in 4-5 day stretches. Part-time and per diem (PRN) physicians are scheduled as needed and available. We work together to manage the schedule as equitably as possible providing intensivists with a great work/family life balance.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- We value and support growth and development in our practice and in our critical care group, allowing you to explore opportunities that provide clinical and professional growth opportunities.
